Volunteering Queensland has established a new relationship with AFL Queensland in 2024, which will provide the opportunity for individuals to volunteer with AFL Queensland.
If eligible, they may also be able to gain an Active Volunteering Certificate through their work with AFL Queensland.
Participants can choose between umpiring, coaching, club volunteering, game development, administrative support or through the Women and Girls space.
Richie Lyons, AFL Queensland’s Growth, Participation and Operations Manager said AFL Queensland is excited to be involved with such a respected organisation. “Volunteering Queensland do outstanding work in the community, and we are so pleased to be in partnership with them in 2024,” he said.
“There are many roles and avenues to be part of our community that don’t involve playing, including administration, umpiring, and coaching.
Jackie Choquenot, Volunteering Queensland’s Training Partnerships Manager said the new partnership is a unique opportunity.
“Volunteering Queensland’s collaboration with AFLQ Umpiring offers our students an opportunity to fulfill their volunteer placement requirements as part of the Accredited Active Volunteering courses.”
“Through this collaboration, we’re not only nurturing a passion for sports officiating but also instilling a sense of community engagement and responsibility.”
