headspace Fraser Coast is currently seeking Youth Advisory Committee members who are volunteers aged 12-25. The group represents each state and territory and works with headspace to ensure young people's voices and opinions remain front and centre.

The Youth Advisory Committee is made up of a team of volunteers passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. Hailing from all over Australia and a diverse set of backgrounds, many of the Youth Advisory Committee have experienced their own struggles but overcome them to become advocates of youth mental health.

The Youth Advisory Committee members, with support from headspace Fraser Coast staff:

  • Advise on various issues and topics relating to Youth Mental Health and the headspace Fraser Coast locations
  • Participating and assisting in activities
  • Providing peer support
  • Developing community awareness
  • Maintain and update resources
  • Participating in target group decisions
  • Participating in teleconferences, email, and Facebook discussions between in-person meetings and events to progress certain projects
  • Networking includes promoting the program through word of mouth and networking and leaving pamphlets at appropriate locations (e.g. community centres, etc).

As part of our team of dedicated volunteers, you will be provided with training and support to perform your role efficiently and safely, including the opportunity to develop your skills in the area of Youth Mental Health.

Youth Advisory Committee members must be available to attend meetings at headspace Hervey Bay in Urraween on Mondays between 4.30pm - 5.30pm or headspace Maryborough on Wednesdays between 5.00pm - 6.00pm.

Security checks required for the position are supplied and paid for by Wesley Mission Queensland. All applicants will be required to complete an online registration form which will be forwarded to them when their expression of interest is lodged with us. To be in this role you will be required to follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof you have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before commencement or an Exemption has been provided.
